BLACK SHOES

SIX PAIRS OF CHILDREN SHOES, LEATHER, HANDMADE, PROTOTYPES, 2006.

In fairy-tales pleasure, pain and sadness always go together. The tale of The Little Red Shoes (C. Anderson) inspired me, as a designer and as a tap dancer. At first glance the shoes make a positive, even festive impression. The nails in the shoes act as the taps, but they also have a negative connotation.

I looked for an alternative shape for the noses of the shoes. By folding the leather and tying it together, or by cutting a strip of the leather and re-attaching it, the top of the shoes retains its shape while the shoes get their own personality.
